Just about 50km southwest of Hanoi’s centre, a “green gemstone” is tucked away in the suburban district of My Duc. Quan Son Lake is the perfect attraction for nature-lovers to enjoy on the weekend.
Quan Son Lake consists of 100 limestone mountains on its surface, making it an onshore miniature of Ha Long Bay. Spanning around 850ha in the territory of five communes of My Duc, the beautiful scenery is the combination of the sky, water and towering limestone mountains, somewhat similar to that of UNESCO World Heritage Site Ha Long Bay, in the northern province of Quang Ninh.
It is said that the lake consists of 100 limestone mountains on its surface, making it an onshore miniature of Ha Long Bay. The best time to visit Quan Son is during the lotus season, which falls between mid-May and June. If you visit at another time, the green carpet locally called trang trang—an aquatic plant with small white flowers—is equally beautiful, creating a romantic scene on the lake.
The best way to enjoy Quan Son’s untouched beauty by commercial tourism is to hire a small boat and sail around. Taking a canoe is also another option. The one-hour boat trip will bring visitors around the lake, take them to orchards on several islands and even let them climb limestone mountains to explore caves.
There are unique islands in the lake with strange names, named after their shapes, such as Su Tu (“Lion”) Island, Voi Phuc (“Kneeling Elephant”) Mountain and Hoa Qua Son (“Fruit”) Mountain, one of the biggest mountains around the lake.

Clearwater continually spouts from the fountains, normally between 340C and 360C. According to some scientific tests, Kim Boi water resources can reach the required standard for quality; therefore, it proves to be suitable for drinking and bathing.
In fact, the Kim Boi mineral water is bottled for refreshment. It has almost the same composition as certain famous foreign brands of mineral water in the world. In addition, it is believed that heated water can hold more dissolved solids and have a high mineral content including calcium or lithium or radium.
As a result, this water is considered as a highly effective therapy for rheumatism, intestinal diseases, stomachache, high blood pressure etc. This can even be a good location for rehabilitation clinics for those with disabilities.

The hillocks closing to mountain slopes are extended by soil dams to create a solid wall for maintaining water of the lake. The harmonious combination of lake and mountains creates a vivid natural picture.
Dai Lai Lake Tourist Area has a mild and cool climate thanks to the existence of Tam Dao Mountain Range and mountains of Cot Co, Mo Qua, Than Lan… Here, the average temperature in summer of about 28.9 degree and in winter of approximately 16.8 degree are an ideal condition for leisure and relaxation on the weekends.

Trang An Landscape Complex in Ninh Binh Province.
Trang An Landscape Complex in Ninh Binh province is about 100km southeast of Hanoi. It is famous for several cultural and natural tourist attractions such as Duc Thanh Nguyen temple, Bich Dong pagoda, Phat Diem Stone Cathedral, and Hoa Lu ancient city. Visitors should not miss the opportunity to experience taking a boat tour of the caves at a cost of VND150,000 for three hours.
Exploration of caves at different altitudes has revealed archaeological traces of human activity over a continuous period of more than 30,000 years. They illustrate the occupation of these mountains by seasonal hunter-gatherers and how they adapted to major climatic and environmental changes, especially the repeated inundation of the landscape by the sea after the last ice age.
The story of human occupation continues through the Neolithic and Bronze Ages to the historical era. Hoa Lu, the ancient capital of Viet Nam, was strategically established here in the 10th and 11th centuries AD. The property also contains temples, pagodas, paddy-fields and small villages.
River network in Trang An is well developed with Hoang Long River to the north, Chanh River to the east, He River to the south, Ben Dang River to the west and river systems of Sao Khe, Ngo Dong and Den Voi in the heart of the heritage. Trang An Area was invaded and reworked by the sea many times in the recent geological past but is now emergent on land.
