FPT Corporation, Vietnam’s leading information technology firm, has launched Speakdi, a Vietnamese-Japanese automatic translation app, on App Store since early this month.

“Speakdi” assists users in natural conversations. Speakdi users can speak or type thanks to Text to Speech and Speech to Text technologies of FPT.AI, an artificial intelligence technology platform launched in June by FPT.

There have been many apps helping translate Japanese into English or French, and even apps for Japanese-Vietnamese translation, but such apps can work with words only. Meanwhile, Speakdi can translate and pronounce both words and sentences.

App users will be automatically offered free use of 4,000 characters a month, equivalent to 30 minutes of translation. Users will have to pay US$5 for 20,000 more characters.

Speakdi app will have more functions to support users of other operating systems such as Android.

FPT.AI is an artificial intelligence platform that allows computer programmers to create a natural language interface. The artificial intelligence algorithms of FPT.AI are developed by FPT researchers applying the latest machine learning and deep learning techniques. The platform consists of two components, FPT.AI-Speech for speech interfaces and FPT.AI-Conversation Platform for natural language interfaces.
